A 17-year-old Mohawk High School student was killed Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident east of Upper Sandusky. Heather J. Raypole, of Sycamore, was pronounced deceased at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Toledo.

Ashley N. Sisson, Carey, charged by the Carey police with domestic violence, amended to persistent disorderly conduct, pleaded guilty, found guilty. Joshua L. Weatherholtz, Mount Blanchard, charged by the state with telephone harassment, amended plea to guilty, found guilty.

An Upper Sandusky High School graduate is hoping he can spark residents of Wyandot County to help make a huge difference for at-risk youth in the community. Justin Swartz recently began the Wyandot County Mentoring Program. He was motivated to try something new after spending a decade working with children in need.

Coffee took center stage Thursday evening as Beca House owner Steve Jackson gave a presentation to a packed house at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. “I was worried there were only going to be five people here,” Jackson said. “But this was a nice surprise.”

Almost all counties in Ohio have public transportation but Wyandot County has historically been on the short-list of those that do not. That is changing, however, as the Ohio Department of Transportation is granting funds to the Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission (HHWP CAC) to expand public transportation offerings into Wyandot County.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board kicked off 2019 with an organizational meeting. Jennifer Romich, Dianne Grafmiller and Ann Kemerley were retained as president, vice president and secretary, respectively. Kathleen Whitt was reappointed as fiscal officer and Todd Leightey began his new term on the board. All positions were sworn in.

MARSEILLES — Marseilles Council held discussion about catch basins in the village that are in need of repair during its regular meeting Tuesday. Council also discussed the chicken barbecue to be held in April and reviewed the December bank statement.
