Labor Day is nearly here, which means it’s vacation time for many Ohioans. Each year, more and more pet owners take their dogs and cats on the road, but traveling can be a little trickier with a furry family member.

CAREY — The Dorcas Carey Public Library has announced its slate of events for the month of September. A movie will be shown at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at the library.

KENT — Kent State University has welcomed its highest-achieving freshman class that continues strong university enrollment. The academically motivated freshmen have an average GPA of 3.35 and an average ACT score of above 23; both are increases over last year and records for an incoming Kent campus freshman class, according to a press release from the university.

MARION — Clay and Michelle Tillman of Marion are in the midst of a nightmare. Their 5-year-old daughter, Kaycee Tillman, suffers seizures several times a day. In hopes of relieving some of the feeling of helplessness and give Kaycee some independence, the Tillmans are trying to get Kaycee a service dog.

Story time at the Upper Sandusky Community Library will begin on its regular schedule in the month of September. Tiny Tots story time for children up to age 3 are offered from 10-10:30 a.m. Mondays, 5:30-6 p.m. Tuesdays and 11-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays.
