Donate blood, get free Cedar Point ticket

TOLEDO — This summer, the American Red Cross, Cedar Fair theme parks and K100 are partnering to offer a free Cedar Fair park ticket to those who donate blood at select blood drives, including Carey, Tiffin and Findlay. Donors also can enter to win one of three grand prize packages for four to Knott’s Berry Farm in California or Cedar Point.

Gospel singing, potluck June 10

CALEDONIA — Gospel Corner Barn presents a night of gospel singing and potluck June 10. The potluck is at 5 p.m., and singing with The Padgett’s, Wayne Sater, Set Apart, and Jimmy Potridge is from 6-9 p.m. at 4891 Marion-Mt. Gilead Road (Ohio 95 in Claridon).

DKG gives back

Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International women’s education society recently gave two gift certificates to teachers at Upper Scioto Valley Elementary School for their improvements.

1,000 books read

Arthur Cain, 2, recently reached the goal of reading 1,000 books before kindergarten at Forest-Jackson Public Library. Preschoolers may sign up for the program at the library anytime during regular library hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Carey Kiwanis Club to host health screening event

CAREY — Carey Kiwanis Club will host its preventive health screenings from 7-9 a.m. June 3 at Grace United Methodist Church. Automated CBC, full lipid profile, basic metabolic panel and AST/ALT is $30. The screening checks hemoglobin, white cell count, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides and ratio, glucose (blood sugar), electrolytes, kidney function and liver enzymes.
