Brycen Ellis Maglott

Marciena and Jeremy Maglott of Bucyrus are the parents of a boy. Brycen Ellis Maglott was born at 5:56 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. He was 21 inches long and weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces. The maternal grandparents are John and Vanessa Schiefer of Bucyrus. The paternal grandparents are Edwin and Bertha Maglott of Galion.

Flu vaccines are available

The Wyandot County Health Department encourages people to protect themselves and their families this season with an annual flu vaccine for everyone who is 6 months of age and older. While the timing of flu season is unpredictable, seasonal flu activity can begin as early as October and last as late as May.

UCH to host symposium in Columbus on Oct 20

United Church Homes will host the second annual Ruth Frost Parker Center symposium on aging in Columbus from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Marriott Columbus University Area hotel. The symposium will address the rising number of older adults age 65 and over, the benefits and challenges they face as they age and research that shows seniors are happier and healthier now than before.

STABLE accounts, trusts workshop set for Tuesday

A special needs planning workshop focusing on STABLE accounts and special needs trusts is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 17 in the Angeline School and Industries cafeteria, 11028 CH 44, Upper Sandusky. Featured speakers are Eric Ochmanek, deputy chief of staff of the Office of the Ohio Treasurer, who will give a review of Ohio’s STABLE account features, benefits and eligibility, and Logan Phillips, an attorney for Resch, Root & Phillips LLC, who will discuss the Ohio STABLE account and how it works in conjunction with trusts as part of a special needs plan.
