SYCAMORE — Twenty-one United States military veterans participated in an assembly and luncheon hosted by Mohawk Local Schools in celebration of Veterans Day on Friday morning.

Upper Sandusky Middle School students were tuned into local veterans’ stories on Veterans Day in what has become a tradition at Union Elementary and Middle School.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board celebrated the 30th anniversary of the library’s dedication Thursday before a regular board meeting. The library was dedicated Nov. 10, 1986.

The Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program, a division of the Ohio Department of Insurance, offered free Medicare checkups for registered Wyandot County residents at Senior Connection on Thursday. Wyandot County Council on Aging Director Amy Gardner said enough people registered for every half-hour appointment slot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday to be filled for two OSHIIP representatives who visited the county.

On Tuesday, Wyandot County voters turned out to vote at about the same rate as the 2012 presidential election, with 10,557 out of 15,588 or 67.73 percent of registered voters casting a ballot in the 2016 general election, according to unofficial results released by the Wyandot County Board of Elections.
