About 15 area youth have spent the past three mornings learning about Wyandot Indian history at the annual junior historians day camp sponsored by the Wyandot County Historical Society.

For the sixth consecutive year, area residents turned out Saturday to combat invasive species within Daughmer Savanna State Nature Preserve, an area experts believe is one of the best-kept secrets in the state of Ohio and one of the best natural prairies in all of North America.

Georgia Barany (left) and Gabriella Kichka, both 16, have traveled from Ukraine to Wyandot County for a two-week visit. The girls currently are staying with Lana Sakash, one of a number of Wyandot County residents who collect items, including over-the-counter medications, to bring to Ukraine each year through Sharing America’s Resources Abroad.

Youth and adult students of local art teacher Bonnie Wolfe gathered at her residence June 12 for the annual art show exhibition and multicultural event. Watercolor, ink, acrylic, marker, decoupage, oil and mixed media artworks were displayed at the event, which was free and open to the general public.

Many area residents enjoyed the fun activities at the Our Lady of Consolation Festival on Saturday in Carey.

Every late spring through early summer since 1985, youth in first through sixth grades have taken the stage at the Star Theatre in Upper Sandusky for the Star Kids theater program. Through support of the community and longtime director Lori (McCreary) Lavery and her family, among others, the local youth get an opportunity to learn basic theater techniques, including singing, dancing and acting, and shine in their own performances.
