Kick-off for safe travels

On Friday, the Carey Blue Devils will take on the McComb Fighting Panthers at Wentling Field in Carey, and the Wyandot County Safe Communities Coalition will mark the start of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” traffic safety campaign with the second annual raffle for specialized footballs.

Hannah’s House spelling bee

Catherine Gillen, 93, of Upper Sandusky, defended her championship title in the second annual Hannah’s House adult spelling bee Saturday night at the Star Theatre. Attendees supporting the supervised visitation and exchange home had plenty of laughs, such as when Upper Sandusky Middle School principal Jim Wheeler (standing) called Stony Johnston (sitting, third from right) for help spelling one of his words.
