Wyandot Sports Hall of Fame to induct next class April 15

The Wyandot Sports Hall of Fame will host its annual banquet at 6 p.m. April 15 in the Masters’ Building on the Wyandot County Fairgrounds. Carey’s Cloyce D. Wentling, Sycamore’s Dan Bogard, Riverdale’s Steve Trout, Harpster’s James Dillion, Upper Sandusky’s Roxie Karg, Wynford’s Tom Schreck and the 1965-66 and 1966-67 Carey boys basketball teams will be inducted into the hall of fame.

River Valey edges Upper, 6-5

River Valley pushed a run across in the top of the seventh inning and then held on for a 6-5 victory against Upper Sandusky in a non-conference baseball game Thursday. Both teams scored four times in the first inning and once in the third inning.

Bucyrus holds off Wynford, 6-5

BUCYRUS — Wynford rallied in the seventh inning but came up short in a 6-5 loss at Bucyrus to open the softball season Wednesday. Freshman Hannah Messmer (0-1) had six strikeouts and two walks in a loss in her varsity pitching debut.

Mohawk routs BC to move to 3-0

SYCAMORE — Mohawk scored in all four innings it batted and rolled to a 16-2 victory against Mohawk to open Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball play Wednesday. The Warriors (3-0, 1-0 N10) scored twice in the first and five times in the second inning to lead 7-0 before the Bucks (0-2, 0-1 N10) scored their runs in the top of the third.
