FOREST — R. Karen Bash, age 82, of Forest, passed away April 6, 2023, at Good Samaritan in Arlington.

She was born Sept. 7, 1940, in Hancock County to the late Max and Dorothy (Huston) Stillberger. Karen married Robert “Bob” Bash on Nov. 27, 1960.  

Surviving are her husband, Robert; daughters Kelly Martin, of Forest; and Barb (Dave) Ellis, of Texas; grandchildren Chase (Kascidee) Ellis, Zachary Ellis, Shad Martin and Kolten Martin; great-grandchild Greyson Ellis; sisters Cheryl Snellgrove and Jane (Damon) Davenport; sister-in-law Nancy Stillberger.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Hilbern Stillberger.

Karen graduated from Liberty-Benton High School. She retired as a secretary for Riverdale Junior High, where she worked for 30 years.

Karen was a member of Big Oak United Methodist Church where she played the piano and organ for many years.

She enjoyed collecting and creating dolls and crocheting.

A funeral service is noon Tuesday at Clark Shields Funeral Home with Pastor Harry Launder and Pastor Don Clinger officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society at www.dementiasociety.com, the Forest Jackson Library or Bridge Hospice of Hancock County.
