The Red Devils, ranked fourth in the state in Division IV, came on strong late in the second set and earned their first district championship in school history with a 23-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-17 victory against Carey on Thursday night at Fostoria.

FINDLAY — There were a few tense moments Wednesday night for the Riverdale girls soccer team in a Division III district semifinal. Bluffton controlled most of the first 20 minutes, but a timely goal by Gabi Rodriguez gave the Falcons a lift. Riverdale scored a pair of late goals in just over a minute and went on to a 4-1 victory.

ATTICA — Losing leading hitter Addie Thiery to a sprained ankle in the third set of Saturday’s sectional final was not enough to stop Mohawk from winning a five-setter to get to districts for the seventh year in a row.

Riverdale cross country makes school history

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale girls cross country team is entering uncharted territory this weekend. When the Falcons quintet of Juleigha Collier, Kendra Collier, Audrey Leopold, Isabella Renteria and Adrian Digby compete in the Division III regional cross country meet in Tiffin on Saturday, it will be the first time in school history the Riverdale girls have competed as a team in the event.
