MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale held a slim halftime lead against Blanchard Valley Conference foe Arlington on Friday night, but an Arlington defensive switch forced a sluggish start to the third and fourth quarters for the Falcons. The shift allowed Arlington to take command in the second half en route to a 67-54 Red Devils victory at Riverdale.

NEW WASHINGTON — Carey jumped out to a big lead early against Buckeye Central and never looked back Friday night, eventually defeating the Bucks 64-43 in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference game at Buckeye Central High School.

Mohawk hangs tough but falls to 1-loss Elgin

MARION — Mohawk hung tough with one-loss Elgin but could not generate enough offense in a 43-24 road loss Thursday night. The Warriors (1-9) trailed 7-4 after one quarter and 23-16 at halftime but scored only eight points in the second half against the Comets (10-1).

Mohawk High School graduate Cadin Emshoff and Upper Sandusky High School graduate Taylor Emerick were key players on the Tiffin University men’s rugby team, coached by Sycamore native Jim Gucker. Emshoff was a USA Academic All-American and was the team most valuable player, scoring eight tries and 25 conversion kicks this year.
