Extra shots add up to Falcons win

LEXINGTON — Shots were not falling for Riverdale early, but eventually the Falcons got so many of them, they started going in and they ran away with a 53-25 victory against Fostoria in a Division III sectional semifinal Wednesday night at Lexington.

Carey’s Vaughn earns coaching honor

Carey’s Phil Vaughn was voted the coach of the year in Division IV, and the Blue Devils’ Sydney Wentling and Shelby Kin were named to the first team on the All-District 6 girls basketball team released Tuesday. Upper Sandusky’s Abigail Fogle was a first-team pick in Division II, and Riverdale’s Sydney Holderman was picked to the Division III first team.

Cut it down

The camo-clad Rams student section cheered as coach Jeff Winslow cut down the net. Upper Sandusky, with its fresh, season-high AP poll ranking of No. 2, completed its regular season without a loss. Undefeated. 22-0. The last two didn’t come easy. For the second time in as many games, Upper Sandusky needed to make free throws to stave off a second-half rally.

Bucks start fast in win over Falcons

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central outscored Riverdale by 20 in the first half of a 54-32 win in a non-league game Tuesday. The Bucks (15-6) led 17-6 after one quarter, 28-8 at halftime and 40-20 after three quarters.

Bell, Webb lead Stockaders past Carey

OLD FORT — Eric Bell scored 21 points, and Jacob Webb added 20 points to lead Old Fort to a 63-54 victory against Carey on Tuesday night. Abel LaRoche had 18 points, and Brayden Wentling scored 10 points for the Blue Devils (10-11).
