Sentence stayed while Bennett appeals

Bennett’s statement

An Upper Sandusky man was sentenced to two years in prison Friday morning, although the sentence will be stayed up to six months while he appeals. James Bennett, 77, was found guilty of gross sexual imposition, a felony in the third degree, following a bench trial on Feb. 26. He was originally indicted July 11, 2018.

Kuenzli to serve time for drug trafficking charge

Sentenced

An Upper Sandusky man was sentenced to 30 months in prison Wednesday for aggravated trafficking in drugs. Andrew Kuenzli, 28, was originally arrested Feb. 14 by the Wyandot County Major Crimes Unit after the unit became aware of a shipment of methamphetamine that was to be delivered to Upper Sandusky. He originally was charged with complicity and drug abuse, possession of cocaine, before pleading guilty to the reduced charge April 11. The drug abuse charge was dismissed.

Upper muni court cases heard

Darick S. Brunson, Nevada, charged by the state with two counts of worker’s compensation fraud, amended plea to guilty, finding deferred on conditions. Michael B. McLaughlin, Carey, charged by the Carey police with domestic violence, disposition hearing held, found guilty.

April vital statistics report released

Kelli J. Owens, registrar of vital statistics at the Wyandot County Health Department, reports there were 14 births and 18 deaths in the county during April. Births include three females and eleven males; deaths included nine females and nine males. Ninty-six certified birth and 60 certified death certificates were issued. Twenty-four burial permits were issued.
