HEAP Winter Crisis Program offers assistance

FINDLAY — The Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission’s HEAP 2019 Winter Crisis Program begins Nov. 1 and continues through March 31 — as long as funds remain available. This program was created to provide financial assistance, one time per heating season, to income eligible households who are threatened with disconnection of their heating source, have service already disconnected, need to establish new service, seek to transfer service or have less than a 25 percent supply of bulk fuel.

Patrol has Lights for Lives operation

DEFIANCE — The sixth annual “Lights for Lives” was a successful operation once again, showing what can be accomplished by law enforcement working cooperatively in a multi-agency, multijurisdictional effort. In the spirit of collaboration, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Findlay District, in conjunction with nearly 30 law enforcement agencies in Northwest Ohio from Williams, Fulton, Lucas, Defiance, Henry, Wood, Putnam, Paulding, Hancock, Van Wert, Allen and Hardin counties participated.

The Link announces December events

CAREY — The Link, 112 E. Findlay St., Carey, has announced its December events. Cooking with Tami Healthy Baking is 3-4 p.m. Dec. 6, 13 and 20. Tami Baumberger is back with a free series of cooking classes for the holiday season, with each session including a cooking demonstration.

Making a difference

Stephanie Jacob (left), owner of Whole Life Fitness and Fairy Wagner recently coordinated a “Make a Difference” breakfast food collection and donated the items to Union School for times when students come to school without breakfast and don’t have the money to purchase a school breakfast.

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Monday and is correct as of that date. Pets reported as missing since the last report that have not been found include three black and white pit bull puppies, a neutered male Dalmatian, a black and brown male Doberman-shepherd mix, a neutered male gray cat, a male blue merle Australian shepherd and a female yellow Lab.

Red Cross has urgent need for blood

FINDLAY — The American Red Cross has an urgent need for blood and platelet donors to give now to ensure blood is available for medical treatments and emergencies during the holiday season. Blood and platelet donations often decline during the holidays. Regular donors are busy with holiday activities, and travel and severe winter weather may cause blood drive cancellations.
