MARION — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost presented Marion Technical College faculty Gregory Perry with the Distinguished Law Enforcement Training Award in a statewide conference this week. “All the good things that make a society healthy and prosperous rest on the foundation of public safety and the men and women who protect the unprotected,” Yost said. “I’m proud to honor these award winners who truly represent the ‘best of the best’ and have exhibited diligence, dedication and sacrifice in the name of public safety.”

FOREST — Two movies will be shown at the Forest-Jackson Public Library Oct. 18. The movie matinee “Yesterday” is showing at 1 p.m. A free-will donation includes popcorn and a drink.

GRANVILLE — Ohio K-12 and college, technical or trade students are invited to participate in the 2019 Ohio Energy Awareness video contest. Sponsored by the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program, the competition gives students and teachers the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and energy knowledge during National Energy Awareness Month.

An Evening of Mission and Music is 6 p.m. Oct. 20, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky, 129 W. Johnson St. Preludes start at 6 p.m. with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m. and attendees are invited afterward for delicious homemade desserts made by volunteers and gourmet coffee donated by Beca House.

FOREST — The Forest-Jackson Public Library will be having a reptile program at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17. Join the library for A-Rae’s Reptile Rescue and see live reptiles, while learning about them and possibly being lucky enough to touch one.

The Alzheimer’s Association Northwest Ohio Chapter will hold an educational program on The 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s for interested community members. The program is 11:30 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Wyandot County Council on Aging, 127 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky.

Wyandot Memorial Hospital is holding free hearing screenings for individuals 18 years and older from 8 a.m. to noon the third Thursday of each month. Audiologist Courtney Thiel will provide the free screening as well as information about the latest in hearing aid technology.
