The Wyandot County Fair went relatively smoothly, with only a few injuries reported and one incident of alleged theft from a motor vehicle parked at the fairgrounds, according to reports received by press time today. An unidentified 8-year-old reportedly was injured when a horse stepped on the child in the area of the draft horse barn Friday evening.

General admission at the Wyandot County Fair on Wednesday totaled 1,381 people, according to a representative of the senior fair board. A total of 110 adult passes and 91 youth passes also were sold at the gates Wednesday, the second day of the 165th Wyandot County Fair.

Attendees of the Wyandot County Fair may notice some of the same faces year after year at the four gates to the fairgrounds. For nearly 15 years, two Sycamore couples have headed up the organization of volunteers who man the gates as part of a community service project for Sycamore United Church of Christ.

Wyandot Memorial Hospital will offer free and low-cost health screenings at the Wyandot County Fair. The screenings will be performed by health care professionals at the hospital’s booth in the Merchants’ Building.
