On Dec. 2, 1955, Jimmy was born in Lima, the second of eight children of the late Betty (Combs) and Isaac Overbee Jr. As a family, they moved to Carey in the early ‘60s, where he graduated from Carey High School in the class of 1974. In 2005, Jimmy met the love of his life, Valerie Fridley Hueve through mutual friends. They officially tied the knot June 15, 2013, and have cherished every moment together.

He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Valerie Overbee, Mount Blanchard; three children, Travis Overbee, Tyler (Lucinda) Overbee, both of Sycamore; and Trisha (Donovan Decker) Overbee, Wharton; a step-daughter, Bobbi (Scott) Maurer, Dayton; seven grandchildren, Jameson, Austin, Kansas, Owen, Anthony, Addison and Tayler; six siblings, Sandra (Keith Steyer) Overbee, Carey; Melvin (Jodi) Overbee, Columbus; Sharon (Doug) Maltsbarger, Upper Sandusky; Ronnie Overbee, Findlay; Kenny (Robin) Overbee, Carey; and Jody (Jesse) Etter, Reynoldsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Gary Scott Overbee.

For the majority of his career, Jimmy worked as a welder and retired from the National Lime and Stone Company in 2017.

He was a lifetime member of the NRA and belonged to the Mount Blanchard gun club.

He attended the Mount Blanchard United Methodist Church.

A sports fanatic, Jimmy loved the thrill of the game. He loved to play golf, trap shooting and sporting clays. He loved to play softball, vintage baseball and basketball. He also was an avid coon hunter. He enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. His favorite games to watch, though, were the ones his grandchildren were playing in.

Jimmy will forever be remembered for his friendship, big heart and sense of humor.

His family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey. Services honoring his life also will be held there at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Brett Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Mount Blanchard.
