Blue Devils girls 2nd, Warriors 3rd at BC

NEW WASHINGTON — Carey’s girls edged Mohawk for second place Friday in the Stache Dash at Buckeye Central on Friday. Willard ran away with first place, scoring 146 points. Carey finished ahead of Mohawk, 97.5-92. Port Clinton topped Willard, 143-133, for the boys title, with Mohawk a distant third with 77 points. Carey was sixth with 58 points.

Bucks’ Dentinger shuts down Rams, has 3 hits at plate

NEW WASHINGTON — Upper Sandusky’s bats were silenced by Buckeye Central pitcher Josh Dentinger Friday in a 10-0 loss at Buckeye Central High School. Buckeye Central (4-6, 2-3 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning against Rams ace Jevon Dible, then blew the game wide open with an eight-run third inning.

SYCAMORE — She considered many Division I, II and NAIA colleges, but after visiting Division II Ashland University, Mohawk’s Destini Oler made return visits to the campus, becoming more impressed each time. On Wednesday, Oler, surrounded by her family and coaches, signed her national letter of intent to run cross country and track at Ashland University.
