Shasteen, Mawer lead Rams at Galion

GALION — Upper Sandusky’s girls took 12th place in the Division II race of the Galion Festival on Saturday at Amman’s Reservoir Park. Led by Madelyn Shasteen’s 36th-place finish in 21:59.6, the Rams scored 325 points. Lexington was the winner with 67 points.

Falcons give up late goal, settle for draw

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Westin Okuley scored with 50 seconds remaining to help Continental rally for a 2-2 draw against Riverdale in a nonconference boys soccer match Saturday at Riverdale. The Falcons (3-3-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half.

MANSFIELD — Mansfield Christian scored a pair of second-half goals to beat Riverdale, 2-0, in a nonconference girls soccer match Saturday. The Flames (5-4) got on the board only 3:24 into the second half on a Julia Sparks goal assisted by Olivia Bekeleski.

River Valley gets sweep of Wynford

CALEDONIA — River Valley reached .500 with a 25-20, 25-20, 25-21 sweep of Wynford in a nonconference volleyball match Saturday. Leticia Harbolt led the Vikings (6-6) with nine kills and five digs. Ally Johnson had 14 assists.

NEW WASHINGTON — Still searching for an offensive identity, the Wynford football team has relied on big plays to provide enough scoring to back a stingy defense. That formula held true again Friday night in a 34-0 victory against Buckeye Central. The Royals (3-1, 1-0 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) used a couple of long touchdown plays and shutdown defense to make up for offense that was stagnant at times.

NORTH ROBINSON — The last thing a football team with as many new players as Upper Sandusky can afford to do is fall behind on repetitions, but with the Wyandot County Fair taking place this week, several key players missed practice time. The result was a one-sided 49-6 blowout loss to Colonel Crawford Friday night at Colonel Crawford High School to kick off Northern 10 Conference play.

After the Blue Devils tied the game at 14 when Ethan Beringer hit Griffin Summit on a 10-yard touchdown pass, the Warriors began their ensuing drive on their own 42-yard line. A 16-yard run by Bryce Kirian and an 8-yard run by quarterback Keith Jenkins gave the Warriors a second -and -two at the Carey 34-yard line.

Schroeder, Panthers overwhelm Falcons, 56-7

McCOMB — Tanner Schroeder accounted for five touchdowns in the first half alone as McComb exploded for 42 points in the first quarter of a 56-7 victory against Riverdale on Friday night at McComb. Schroeder ran for two touchdowns, threw a touchdown pass, caught a touchdown pass and returned an interception for a touchdown.
