LANCASTER – Regionals could not have gone much better for Mohawk. After advancing the 3200 relay team and Taeylor Mullholand in the high jump to state Wednesday, the Warriors qualified in two more events Friday, highlighted by Destini Oler dominating the field in the 800 run during Division III competition at Fairfield Union.

TIFFIN — Two years ago, when Wynford’s Alizhah Watson and his teammates lost the 200 relay, he used that as motivation to excel in the 400 dash. This year, history repeated itself during the finals of the Division III Regional Tournament at Tiffin Columbian High School. Watson was the anchor in the boys 200 relay, a relay in which he didn’t receive the handoff of the baton. He and his teammates were disqualified as a result.

AKRON — Just two days after their come-from-behind 5-4 victory over East Canton, the Mohawk softball team faces a stiffer challenge when it meets Hillsdale, the No. 1-ranked Division IV team in Ohio, in the Division IV regional final at 3 p.m. Saturday at Firestone Stadium in Akron.

AKRON — The Mohawk softball team never lost hope. Trailing by one run entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the Warriors scored twice to take a 5-4 victory against East Canton in a Division IV regional semifinal softball game Thursday at Akron Firestone Stadium.

AKRON — It usually is the game-winning hit that people remember, and while Madi Chester’s RBI single was key in Mohawk’s 5-4 victory against East Canton, so much more went into the Warriors’ second rally of the day.

LEXINGTON — Upper Sandusky’s Kenedi Hayden advanced to the finals in the girls 300 hurdles Thursday in the Division II regional track and field meet at Lexington. Hayden finished second in her heat in a time of 48.41. The top two in each heat plus the next four fastest times from either heat advance to the finals Saturday.

The Andersons defeated Positive Image, 13-7, in a USGSP game May 11.

LANCASTER — Mohawk high jumper Taeylor Mullholand dug deep with her back against the wall Wednesday in the Division III regional track and field meet at Fairfield Union High School The result is a trip to the state meet as a freshman after finishing fourth in the finals of the event.

TIFFIN — Just like two years ago, Wynford’s boys sprinters just keep getting better. The Royals qualified both the 400 and 800 relays for the finals of regionals, along with Alizhah Watson in the 400 dash, on Wednesday in Division III action at Tiffin Columbian’s Frost-Kalnow Stadium.

Carey’s Hailey Niederkohr was named the player of the year in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference. She was joined as a first-team selection by teammates Blayc Hacker and Felicite Smith, Mohawk’s Hannah Jordan, Madi Chester and Tess Weinandy, Upper Sandusky’s Alivia Oney and Wynford’s Jenna Coffman.
