Upper Kiwanis to host 5K run

The Upper Sandusky Kiwanis 5K Fun Run, 3K walk and 1-mile Kids Fun Run is 7 p.m. July 27. Check-in is 6 p.m. The Kids Fun Run begins at 6:30 p.m., and the Fun Run begins at 7 p.m. at the Upper Sandusky Reservoir.

Bookie’s Lawn Service outhits Andersons

Bookie’s Lawn Service scored two runs in the fifth and sixth innings to defeat Andersons 5-1 in a Junior League girls fast pitch softball game Wednesday at Harrison Smith Park. Lauren Parker got the win on the mound, pitching three innings with two hits, no walks one earned run and eight strikeouts.

Competing at a high level

If the tournament accomplishments are any indication, many more victories may be on the horizon for Cory Sayre, an avid billiards player from Upper Sandusky, and his teammates. Sayre and his teammates from Avenue Cue in Findlay — the same team that played together all year and won the league championship in Findlay — placed ninth out of more than 330 teams in the World Pool Championships in late May/early June at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
