Chester, Konkle spark efficient Warriors to victory over Devils

SYCAMORE — It’s a combination that has worked well for the Mohawk volleyball team this season — junior Alexa Konkle as the setter and senior Madi Chester as the outside hitter — and Thursday was no exception. Konkle recorded 33 assists, five digs, two kills, two blocks and two aces, and Chester, the Northern 10 Athletic Conference’s leader in kills, led the Warriors with 15 kills as the Warriors won a three-set match, 25-12, 25-14, 25-19, over Carey on Thursday at Mohawk.

Oney nets hat trick in Rams’ win

Alivia Oney had a hat trick as Upper Sandusky snapped a three-match losing streak with a 5-0 shutout victory against Tiffin Columbian on Thursday. Oney also assisted on the match’s opening goal, the first in the career of Riley Messersmith, which came six minutes into the match.

Upper Sandusky rolled in singles matches and took its second straight girls tennis victory with a 4-1 defeat of Fostoria on Thursday. Jodi Smalley evened her record at No. 1 singles to 3-3 without surrendering a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Jennaleigh McCumber.

TIFFIN — Alli Stahl shot a 42 to lead Buckeye Central to a 203-250 victory against Mohawk in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls golf match Thursday at Seneca Hills Golf Club. Alayna Kindle led the Warriors (1-6, 1-4 N10) with a 50, while Carlee Hummel shot a 63, Emmah Danner had a 66, and Kaidan Mathias finished with a 71.

Upper tops Ridgedale for first victory

MORRAL — Led by Kenedi Hayden’s 11 kills and 15 digs, Upper Sandusky picked up its first win of the season with a 25-10, 19-25, 25-22, 25-21 victory against Ridgedale on Thursday night. Emily Hill added seven kills and 16 digs, while Eve Smith passed out 20 assists and had 20 digs for the Rams (1-5, 1-2 N10).

Comets defeat Rams at Windy Acres

NEW BLOOMINGTON — Every score for both teams was between 50 and 60, but Elgin’s were lower in a 207-226 victory against Upper Sandusky in a nonconference girls golf match Thursday at Windy Acres Golf Course. Kendra Conley led the Rams (1-8) with a 53, with Katie Clark one stroke behind with a 54.

Riverdale falls to L-B for first defeat

FINDLAY — Lucas Mattingly scored early in the second half to break a tie and that goal held as the winner as Liberty-Benton defeated Riverdale, 2-1, in a boys North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Thursday. Trent Ward gave the Eagles (2-2, 1-0 NCOSA) a 1-0 lead by scoring in the 13th minute, but six minutes later, Jackson Clark evened the score at 1 with a goal for the Falcons (2-1-1, 1-1 NCOSA).
