Buckeye Central edges Wynford

Finishing strong

GALION — Buckeye Central won its third straight Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls golf title on Monday but Wynford made it as hard as it’s ever been. After the teams split during the regular season, the Buckettes won the rubber match by edging the Royals in the N10 tournament, 421-424, at Valley View Golf Course.

New Riegel sweeps Upper Sandusky

Upper Sandusky played New Riegel tough in each set, but the Blue Jackets earned a 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 sweep in a nonconference volleyball match Monday. Kenedi Hayden led the Rams (2-10) with eight kills and four aces, while Eve Smith had four kills and 11 assists.

Van Buren wins 12th straight title

FINDLAY — Playing without top player Andrew Kuenzli, the Riverdale golf team finished ninth in the Blanchard Valley Conference tournament Monday at Findlay Country Club. Van Buren won its 12th straight BVC championship by shooting a 324 to win the tournament after going 8-0 in tri-matches earlier in the season.

Upper, Bluffton tie 2-2

Riley Messersmith scored with 14:22 remaining to help Upper Sandusky earn a 2-2 draw against Bluffton in a nonconference girls soccer match Monday. Jenna Rodriguez threw in to Audrey Boes, who headed the ball to Messersmith.

Mohawk winning streak reaches 10

SYCAMORE — Mohawk dropped the first set but came back to extend its winning streak to 10 with a 22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-19 victory against Arcadia on Saturday. Madi Chester led the Warriors (10-1) with 20 kills, 20 digs and three aces, while Kaylee Ward tallied 15 kills and 11 digs.

Shasteen, Mawer lead Rams at Galion

GALION — Upper Sandusky’s girls took 12th place in the Division II race of the Galion Festival on Saturday at Amman’s Reservoir Park. Led by Madelyn Shasteen’s 36th-place finish in 21:59.6, the Rams scored 325 points. Lexington was the winner with 67 points.

Falcons give up late goal, settle for draw

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Westin Okuley scored with 50 seconds remaining to help Continental rally for a 2-2 draw against Riverdale in a nonconference boys soccer match Saturday at Riverdale. The Falcons (3-3-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half.
