Montgomery’s 34 leads Rams again

FOSTORIA — Thanks to Brett Montgomery’s overall score of 34 as well as Trevor Clifford’s 40, the Upper Sandusky boys golf team remained undefeated on the season as it defeated Hopewell-Loudon, 167-188, on Thursday at Loudon Meadows Golf Course.

Brett Montgomery shot a 1-over-par 37 as Upper Sandusky won a golf tri-match against Bellevue and Elmwood Wednesday at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. KENTON — Upper Sandusky picked up its first individual victory of the season but fell short against Kenton, 4-1, in a girls tennis match Wednesday at Kenton. Emma Schoenberger and Mara Smalley downed Abby Hartshorn and Elizabeth Heintz, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles for the Rams’ only victory.

Sickness causes Jamboree cancellation

Because a few players have been diagnosed with hand, foot and mouth disease, the Upper Sandusky High School Football Jamboree scrimmage against Fostoria scheduled for Friday has been cancelled to prevent further infection to other USHS or Fostoria High School student athletes.

ARLINGTON — Carey’s 27-match dual winning streak came to an end with a one-stroke loss, 185-186, against Arlington on Wednesday at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. The Blue Devils went undefeated in dual matches last season and their only loss of 2016 was Aug. 16 against Mohawk.

GALION — Andrew Kuenzli shot a 1-under-par 35 to earn medalist honors and lead Riverdale to a 187-215 victory against Crestline in a non-conference boys golf match Wednesday at Valley View Golf Course. A state qualifier a year ago as a freshman, Kuenzli finished with three birdies and five pars on the day.

Hipsher leads USV to win

KENTON — Brady Hipsher carded a 39 and earned medalist honors to lead the Upper Scioto Valley golf team to a 183-212 victory against Riverdale on Tuesday at Veteran’s Memorial Park Golf Course. Tyler Gratz added a 47 for the Rams (2-0). Dylan Thompson recorded a 48 and Jared Hunt scored a 49.
