MARION — Patrick Massara took over the program lead for wins with his 41st as coach as the Upper Sandusky girls soccer team defeated Marion Harding, 3-1, on Saturday in Marion. The victory moved Massara past Erin Hurley, who coached the Rams from 2003-09.

ONTARIO — Upper Sandusky’s girls were seventh and the boys 11th on Saturday in the Bill Brown Invitational cross country meet at Ontario’s Marshall Park. The Rams girls finished with 163 points. Ontario was the girls winner, 34-89, over Fredericktown.

FREMONT — Freshman Maggie Wisda was 12th in the girls race to lead Mohawk to a sixth-place finish Saturday in the St. Joseph Streak Invitational at Walsh Park in Fremont. Wisda finished in 21:51.27, with Maddie Fredritz in 17th place in 22:17.45.

GALION — Wynford’s boys were second and the girls third Saturday in the Crawford County Meet on Saturday at Amman’s Reservoir Park. Led by Noah Smith’s seventh-place finish in 18:15, the Wynford boys finished behind Colonel Crawford.

Upper Sandusky’s girls were third and the boys sixth in the Upper Sandusky Middle School Elks Invitational on Thursday at Harrison Smith Park. Buckeye Valley was the girls winner with 79 points, with Tiffin edging the Rams, 92-96 for second. Wynford was sixth with 137 points.

SYCAMORE — With his team down two scores in the third quarter, Mohawk quarterback Keith Jenkins made plays to spark Mohawk to a huge win. Jenkins ran for 142 of his 160 yards in the second half, leading three touchdown drives as the Warriors, ranked No. 3 in Division VII, stayed unbeaten with a 31-24 victory against Division IV No. 13 Seneca East at Warrior Field.

BUCYRUS — In the blink of an eye, Wynford went from having a victory in its grasp to facing the prospect of a soul-crushing loss to Colonel Crawford on a night where neither team seemed to find its offensive footings. Less than one minute after scoring the go-ahead touchdown, the Royals needed a goal-line stand in the final seconds of the fourth quarter to preserve a 14-7 win over the Eagles in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference thriller Friday.

Even on the rare possession that the Upper Sandusky football team began a drive in its own territory, the Rams still managed to find the end zone. The Rams scored on five possessions and added a recovery of a blocked punt for a touchdown in a 42-6 rout of Buckeye Central on Friday at Upper Sandusky High School.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Clad in red Wharton Dragons uniforms, the Riverdale football team celebrated Heritage Night in style with a strong all-around performance against a depleted Vanlue roster on Friday at Riverdale. Riverdale executed its offense like a well-oiled machine, tacking on several first-half touchdowns en route to a one-sided 49-7 victory over the Wildcats.
