SYCAMORE — First-place Seneca East’s defense was suffocating in a 58-18 victory against Mohawk in Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball action Saturday. The Tigers (10-1, 7-0 N10) had an 11-4 lead after one quarter and outscored the Warriors 16-0 in the second to go up 27-4 at halftime. They led 40-8 after three quarters.

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central outscored Carey in each quarter, slowly pulling away for a 42-27 victory in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Saturday. The Buckettes (7-2, 5-1 N10) led 9-4 after one quarter, 20-14 at halftime and 34-21 after three quarters.

ATTICA — Mohawk’s freshman boys basketball team had no trouble with Seneca East in a 66-38 victory Saturday. Nathan Geary led the Warriors with 21 points. Collin Barth added 14 points and Reese Hannam scored 11 points.

BUCYRUS — Before Friday’s game, Mohawk assistant coach Brock Cleveland approached Mohawk coach Paul Dunn and said, “We’re about due for a good shooting night.” Challenge accepted.

After being slightly outscored by Northern 10 Athletic Conference foe Seneca East in an up-tempo second quarter, Upper Sandusky boys basketball coach Jeff Winslow had an strong message for his team at halftime.

VANDALIA — Brayzin McDaniel finished in seventh place to lead Upper Sandusky Friday in the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association Holiday Wrestling Tournament at Vandalia Butler. McDaniel was the only Ram to place, finishing 5-2 in the tournament at 145 pounds.

FINDLAY — Carey jumped out a 17-point halftime lead, and the was it’s final margin of victory in a 64-47 non-conference win Friday night at Liberty-Benton. The Blue Devils (4-4) led 16-9 after one quarter and 32-15 at halftime.

RAWSON — How many turnovers would the Cory-Rawson girls basketball team force in their full court press as well as their zone defense? And would they be able to turn defense into offense and convert off of their steals?

LIMA — Upper Sandusky’s boys finished as runner-up while the girls were fourth in the Lima Holiday Invitational swim meet Thursday at the Lima YMCA. The Rams boys scored 275 points, finishing well behind champion Lima Shawnee with 372.5 points, but ahead of third-place Ottawa-Glandorf with 275 points.
