Jordan shuts out Seneca East in Mohawk’s 9-0 victory

SYCAMORE — Hannah Jordan pitched a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and got plenty of run support in Mohawk’s 9-0 Northern 10 Athletic Conference victory Wednesday against Seneca East. The Warriors (12-8, 9-5 N10) scored once in the first inning, twice in the third inning, once in the fifth and then blew the game open with a five-run sixth.

Upper Sandusky played its sectional lineup for the first time in a 4-1 boys tennis victory over Galion on Wednesday. Top singles player Nate Hensel reunited with Turner Dilley at No. 1 doubles in a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Nick Oehler and Matt Sparks, and Alex Brodman and Noah Frey teamed up for a 6-4, 6-3 win over Max Papanhouser and Ty Harris at No. 2 doubles.

Roark sets Carey baseball coach wins record

BUCYRUS — Carey won its sixth straight game, and coach Joey Roark became the school’s all-time leader in baseball coaching wins with a 9-4 victory at Bucyrus on Wednesday. Roark’s 77th win passed previous coach Eric Vackert’s total of 76 wins from 2001-08, which was one better than Roark’s own coach, Rick Miller, who won 75 games from 1983-93.

BUCYRUS — Carey scored all of its runs in the final three innings of a 9-1 victory at Bucyrus in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Wednesday. The Redmen (2-15, 2-11 N10) scored once in the first inning on a Donna Richardson double after Loareal Mollenkopf singled, and their 1-0 lead held up until the Blue Devils (9-4, 7-2 N10) scored four times in the fifth inning, twice in the sixth and three more times in the seventh.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Leipsic won a Blanchard Valley Conference softball game at Riverdale, 9-2, on Wednesday. The road team scored a run each in the second and third innings before opening a 7-0 lead with five in the fourth.
