The Tigers ran out to a 14-5 lead after the first eight minutes but were unable to put away the Blue Devils until near the end in a 52-39 victory that keeps Seneca East unbeaten in the N10 and alone in first place.

ARCADIA — Riverdale overcame a poor outside shooting night with a strong defensive effort in a 47-38 victory at Arcadia in a Blanchard Valley Conference boys basketball game Friday night. The Falcons (7-5, 4-1 BVC) were just 1 of 15 from long range but held the Redskins (1-11, 0-5 BVC) to 2-of-10 shooting from long range and forced 19 turnovers.

PERRYSBURG — Mohawk’s Kaleb Leeth, Bryce Sheets and James Clouse remain in contention after one day at the Perrysburg Invitational Tournament on Friday. All three were knocked into the consolation bracket but won matches to stay alive for the Warriors, who are 23rd of 35 teams with 27 points.

SYCAMORE — In their last 11 tries before Thursday’s matchup, the Mohawk boys basketball team hadn’t defeated Upper Sandusky. Additionally, the Warriors had yet to defeat the Rams in Northern 10 Athletic Conference play.

MORRAL — With 6-foot-8 Hayden Stone in the middle, Carey typically has a size advantage on just about any team. That was especially true Thursday night at Ridgedale. The much smaller Rockets, plagued by foul trouble, were no match for the Blue Devils in an 85-48 victory for Carey in Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball play.

ATTICA — Josh Crall scored 23 points and Wynford snapped its five-game losing streak with a 55-47 victory at Seneca East on Thursday night. The Royals (2-8, 2-5 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) took a 17-15 lead after one quarter and took control in the second quarter, extending their lead to 33-20.

LEIPSIC — The Leipsic girls basketball team led by 11 points at halftime and 16 at the end of the third quarter on the way to a 43-25 victory over Riverdale on Thursday at Leipsic High School. The Falcons (6-8, 1-5 Blanchard Valley Conference) connected on 6 of 25 shots from inside the 3-point line and 2 of 8 shots from behind the 3-point line.

Trinity United Church of Christ of McCutchenville rolled to three more wins, 18-5, 5-3 and 7-1, against St. Paul Lutheran Church 1 in Wyandot County Church Dartball play Thursday.

Upper Sandusky’s seventh grade boys basketball team used a quick start to beat Ridgedale 49-34 on Thursday. Gavin Frey led the Rams (9-1) with 11 points.

The Wynford girls basketball team never lost hope. Trailing by 10 points with 3:29 remaining, Wynford forward Briley Pollock got a steal in the back court and hit a layup, sparking a late 8-point run.
