BUCYRUS — Sydney Stuckman had seven kills and four aces to lead Upper Sandusky to a 25-18, 25-15, 25-18 victory against Bucyrus in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Saturday. Kenedi Hayden, Reagan Ward and Lily Gibson had four kills apiece, while Ella Orians had three in a balanced attack for the Rams (4-16, 4-10 N10).

ATTICA — Madi Chester had 12 kills to lead Mohawk to a sweep of Seneca East, 25-21, 25-20, 25-20, in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball play Saturday. Chester added team-highs of two aces and 13 digs.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale and Edison played to a scoreless draw in a nonconference boys soccer match shortened to one half because of lightning and ongoing thunderstorms Saturday night. CAREY — Seneca East coach Ed Phillips was not overly disappointed when his team gave up a touchdown play on the last play of the first half to trail by a touchdown at the break. He was more upset about his defensive line’s performance.

Wynford coach Gabe Helbert challenged his defense all week coming into Friday’s game against Upper Sandusky after having its 33-game Northern 10 Athletic Conference winning streak snapped by Seneca East. The Royals rose to the occasion in a big way, and at times, the defensive secondary players may as well have felt as if they were playing on offense.

SYCAMORE — A trend that the Bucyrus football team is still attempting to reverse is how to avoid the second half slump. Friday was no exception.

NORTH BALTIMORE — The points were not hard to come by Friday night in a wild shootout between visiting Riverdale and North Baltimore in a Blanchard Valley Conference football game. Turnovers ended up making the difference as Riverdale had five takeaways and pulled away in the second half of a crazy 77-42 barnburner against the Tigers.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Tyler Hart’s goal with 10:48 remaining gave Riverdale a huge 2-1 victory against Van Buren on Thursday in boys North Central Ohio Soccer Association play.

LEXINGTON — Upper Sandusky’s doubles team of Jodi Smalley and Mara Smalley advanced to the third round but the Rams’ season came to an end during the Division II sectional tournament Thursday at Lakewood Racquet Club in Lexington.

FINDLAY — Upper Sandusky junior Brett Montgomery wasn’t sure if he wanted to hit a 2-iron or a driver off of the tee on the 16th hole of Red Hawk Run Golf Course during the district tournament Thursday.
