CAREY — It didn’t take Carey High School junior Tanner May long to secure his place in Carey High School wrestling history. May, who had a first-round bye in the Carey Classic on Saturday at Carey High School, faced Fostoria’s Aaron Johnson in the second round, where he pinned Johnson at the 41-second mark. With the victory, May became the youngest wrestler in the history of the Carey High School wrestling program to win the 100th match of his high school wrestling career.

Upper Sandusky used a flurry of 3-pointers early to build a lead, and after Josh Crall rallied Wynford back into the game, the Rams used defense and post offense to put the Royals away 69-54 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball play Saturday night. The Rams buried 10 treys in the first half, including seven in the first quarter, to take a 44-32 halftime lead.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — A 9-0 run to end the second quarter gave Riverdale the lead for good against Ridgemont on Saturday night. And after gaining some more separation in the third quarter, the Falcons were able to hold on to a 68-56 non-conference boys basketball win on Saturday night.

MORRAL — Mohawk built a lead with a big second quarter and held off Ridgedale with strong free throw shooting in a 56-44 victory in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Saturday night. The Warriors (2-10, 2-6 N10) led 9-8 after one quarter and scored 23 points in the second quarter to move ahead 32-19.

MORRAL — Zach Hayman scored 27 points as Mohawk ran away with an 81-50 victory against Ridgedale in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Saturday. The Warriors (12-0, 8-0 N10) led just 16-10 after one quarter and 37-22 at halftime before a huge third quarter saw them push their advantage to 60-27.

BUCYRUS — Hayden Stone had a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead Carey to a 56-42 victory against Bucyrus in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Saturday night. Griffin Summit added 17 points for the Blue Devils (7-4, 5-2 N10).

PERRYSBURG — Kaleb Leeth took fourth place to lead Mohawk this weekend in the Perrysburg Invitational Tournament. Leeth finished 5-2 at 182 pounds during the two days, losing twice to the same wrestler, Chaminade Julienne’s Hunter Johns.

Upper Sandusky’s eighth grade girls basketball team edged Buckeye Central 30-24 on Saturday. Velouria Stowers led the Rams with 12 points, followed by Kaidance Iles with 8 points.

NORTH ROBINSON — The Upper Sandusky girls basketball team didn’t make more than two shots from the field in the second half of Friday’s contest versus Colonel Crawford. They didn’t need to. Leading by 12 over Colonel Crawford at the half, the Rams, often drawing fouls while driving to the basket, connected on 17 free throws in the second half to help them hold on for a 51-43 victory over Colonel Crawford at Colonel Crawford High School.

BUCYRUS — The Wynford and Buckeye Central girls varsity basketball teams were nearly exact opposites of each other shooting the ball in the first half Friday night in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference game at Wynford. Wynford was ice cold from the field, going 0 for 11 from beyond the arc while Buckeye Central was red hot, making six of its nine attempts from downtown, which allowed the Buckettes to take a 19-point lead into halftime.
