McCUTCHENVILLE — Kaleb Swavel hit grand slams in each of the first two games to help Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church C win the series against first-place Trinity United Church of Christ of McCutchenville with 6-2 and 3-1 wins and a 7-5 loss on Thursday in Wyandot County Church Dartball play.

The Upper Sandusky eighth grade girls basketball team routed Bucyrus 42-9 on Thursday. Lauren Schoenberger led the Rams with 11 points.

Upper Sandusky has cancelled all athletic events for Saturday and Sunday, including youth basketball and indoor soccer. The Upper Sandusky girls basketball game against Carey has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 7 at Carey.

BELLEVUE — Trailing by 13 with 4:51 remaining in the first half, it wasn’t only the Bellevue girls basketball team’s defensive pressure, trapping and speed in the full-court press and half court that worried the Upper Sandusky Rams.

MARION — The Upper Sandusky swimming teams rolled to victory in a six-team meet Wednesday at the Marion YMCA. The Rams girls amassed 187 points to finish far ahead of Marion Harding with 66 points, while the boys were first over The Wellington School 220-81.

Upper Sandusky will have youth wrestling for fifth and sixth graders from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays at Upper Sandusky Middle School.

Spring registration for Upper Sandusky Youth Soccer is upcoming. Times and dates to register are 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Beca House, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at 9 Flags Pizza and 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 26 at Beca House.

The Upper Sandusky girls soccer coaching staff is providing Sunday Night Soccer winter training for girls in third through eighth grades. The sessions are 6-8 p.m. Sundays through March 24 (excluding Feb. 3) in the Upper Sandusky High School gym. Sessions are free.

BUCYRUS — So close, yet so far. Nine different times in the second half, the Wynford boys basketball team was within one possession of Willard. Twice, the Royals were trailing by only one point.

NORTH ROBINSON — Defense kept Carey in the game but it just could not muster enough offense. Colonel Crawford shut down the Blue Devils in a 30-26 victory in Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball action Tuesday night.
