McCOMB — There’s no question the Carey volleyball team has heavily relied on junior outside hitter McKenzie Row, the team’s most experienced returning player from last year, throughout the 2018 season. Row remains in the top five in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference in kills and is among the conference leaders in aces and serve receiving.

But, the fifth-seeded Bulldogs won the last three points of the match to top ninth-seeded Upper Sandusky, 25-19, 25-22, 18-25, 29-27, in a Division II sectional semifinal at Lake High School on Tuesday.

DOLA — After winning the first two games of its sectional match against Riverdale on Tuesday night, Hardin Northern went into hibernation in game three. Fortunately for the Polar Bears, alarm bells went off midway through game four as they were able to pull out a 25-14, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21 victory in the Division IV sectional semifinal.

Wynford was not the same team after her injury late in the third set, and Crestline rallied for a 14-25, 20-25, 26-24, 25-17, 15-12 victory in a Division IV sectional semifinal match at Crestline.

LIMA — Sometimes the ball just doesn’t bounce your way. Robert Mooney’s midfield free kick in the final minute took a big hop, was deflected a couple of times, and Jacob Garver tapped it in for the game-winning goal with 14.1 seconds left as Bath handed Upper Sandusky a heart-breaking 2-1 defeat in a Division II sectional semifinal match Monday night in Lima.
