Wyandot Sports HOF induction April 20

Wyandot Indians 2010-11 basketball team

The Wyandot Sports Hall of Fame’s ninth annual banquet is April 20 at the Masters’ Building at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds. This year’s induction class includes Michael Dennis, Tim Gebhardt, Ed Hahn, Conrad Walcutt, Jon Wells, D. Jack West and the 2010-11 Wyandot Indians basketball team. Longtime Wyandot Indians basketball player Chuck Brinker also will be given special recognition.

CAREY — Much like its previous matchup with the Upper Sandusky softball team, the Carey softball team scored three runs in an inning in the latter part of the contest. But this time, the Rams had an answer.

Upper girls edge Mohawk in tri-meet

SYCAMORE — Upper Sandusky’s girls edged Mohawk, while Bucyrus’ boys topped Upper Sandusky for first place in a track and field tri-meet Monday at Mohawk. The Rams girls won 70-66 over the Warriors, with the Redmen scoring 39 points. Bucyrus’ boys edged Upper Sandusky 69-66, with Mohawk scoring 40 points.

FINDLAY — The Riverdale softball team extended its winning streak to five with a 14-7 victory against Liberty-Benton in Blanchard Valley Conference play Monday at Liberty-Benton. The Falcons (5-1, 3-0 BVC) used a five-run fifth inning to take a 10-3 lead, and after the Eagles got to within 11-7, Riverdale scored three more times in the seventh inning.

Marquart homers, drives in 6 in Upper win

CAREY — Brenyn Marquart had a three-run home run and finished the day with six RBIs as Upper Sandusky routed Carey 17-2 in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Monday at Memorial Park in Carey. Marquart also singled, doubled and scored two runs. The Rams (8-2, 4-0 N10) scored two runs each in the first and second innings and three in the fourth inning. They blew open the game with a 10-run fifth inning.

Harper homers, has 5 RBIs in Mohawk win

NORTH ROBINSON — Aubrie Harper took over the Northern 10 Athletic Conference lead in home runs with her fourth as Mohawk topped Colonel Crawford 14-6 in an N10 softball game Monday in North Robinson. The Warriors (7-1, 3-1 N10) trailed the Eagles (2-8, 1-5 N10) before a four-run sixth inning that included Harper’s three-run home run and then five more runs in the seventh.

Warriors take 1st loss

NORTH ROBINSON — Gavin Feichtner struck out seven as Colonel Crawford shut out Mohawk 9-0 to give the Warriors their first baseball loss of the season Monday at Colonel Crawford. Feichtner (2-1) threw a two-hitter, giving up three walks, and he got plenty of run support.

Royals top Rockets 10-2

MORRAL — Wynford’s offense broke out with seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings of a 10-2 victory against Ridgedale in Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball play Monday. The Royals (5-5, 4-2 N10) led 3-2 before scoring four times in the fourth inning and three times in the fifth inning.
