Keeping the community healthy begins with the youth in that community, as well as understanding the roles that a healthy diet and lifestyle play in maintaining health. In the Mighty Ram Camp nutrition and fitness programs, students in kindergarten through eighth grade will not only participate in fun activities, but learn about the role nutrition and healthy diets play in maintaining proper health from people in the Wyandot Memorial Health SportsCare program.

Brackenridge wins at Marion CC

MARION — Fairbanks’ Justin Brackenridge shot a 74 to win the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association’s 16-18 division Monday at Marion Country Club. Mount Gilead’s Hayes Bentley was runner-up with a 77, followed by Pleasant’s Alex Pratt with a 78, Galion’s Spencer Keller with a 79, and Fairbanks’ Travis Brake with an 80.

High school boys basketball summer success

The Upper Sandusky boys basketball high school team completed its summer season in June, going 51-8 overall. The team was 6-1 at Findlay team camp from June 10-11, 15-1 and tournament champion in the Elmwood Shootout on June 13, 4-0 in the Wooster College Shootout on June 15 and 26-6 at Eastern Ohio Basketball Camp from June 16-18.

Jake Diebler returns to Ohio State as basketball assistant

COLUMBUS — As soon as 2005 Upper Sandusky High School graduate Jake Diebler learned an assistant men’s basketball coaching position at Ohio State University was going to come open, he expressed interest. After Mike Schrage left to become the head men’s basketball coach at Elon University, Diebler reached out to Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann, whom he had become acquainted with over the last two years.

Children invited to free Mighty Ram Camp

Children in kindergarten through eighth grade and their parents are invited to Mighty Ram Camp on July 22, 24 and 26. The nutrition and fitness program is 6-7:30 p.m. at the Upper Sandusky High School football practice field, behind the baseball diamond, and is open to students from any school district.
