Tigers give Rams 1st N10 loss

ATTICA — Rickie Lacy gave up a first-inning run but shut down Upper Sandusky after that, handing the Rams their first Northern 10 Athletic Conference loss of the year, 2-1, on Monday at Seneca East. Lacy (2-2) gave up an unearned run in the first inning. Parker Frombaugh reached on an error and scored on a Ben Sheaffer double.

Upper holds on

ATTICA — Jillian Allgyre’s grand slam in the fifth inning was not quite enough to rally Seneca East, as Upper Sandusky held on for a 7-5 victory in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Monday at Seneca East. The Rams (12-5, 9-1 N10) led 6-1 after a four-run fourth inning but the Tigers (7-8, 4-7 N10) got to within one.

Knights win 13-1

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Van Buren had huge first and second innings and took a run-rule victory against Riverdale, 13-1, in Blanchard Valley Conference softball action Monday at Riverdale. The Black Knights (9-3, 6-2 BVC) took a 4-1 lead after one inning and then scored seven times in the second inning.

Upper boy an expert dirt bike rider at 7 years old

Already an expert

Growing up in a family of dirt bike racing enthusiasts, it wasn’t long before 7-year old Uriah Messersmith of Upper Sandusky developed a penchant for the sport as well. It didn’t take long for him to start earning accolades for his on-track accomplishments either. When he was 3 years old, he rode one of his family’s dirt bikes for the first time.

Upper junior high boys take 2nd, girls 3rd in Bucyrus Invite

Upper Sandusky’s boys were second and the girls were third Thursday in the Bucyrus Middle School Invitational track and field meet. Avon won the girls title with 120 points, followed by Lexington with 93 points and Upper Sandusky with 76 points. Mohawk was fifth with 44 points, Wynford was seventh with 33 points, and Carey finished 11th with 9 points.

Still unbeaten in N10

Even with Seneca East having lost two straight Northern 10 Athletic Conference games coming in, Upper Sandusky felt like the Tigers were the team to beat to prove they are the class of the league this year. The Rams got a two-hit shutout with 17 strikeouts from Jason Holly and knocked off the three-time N10 champs 1-0 on Thursday at Upper Sandusky.
