CRESTLINE — Pitcher Hannah Messmer proved Monday she not only can help Wynford win games in the circle, she can also help it win in the batter’s box. Messmer had an RBI sacrifice bunt and an RBI single as the No. 9 seed Royals knocked off No. 7 Crestline 7-4 in a Division IV sectional semifinal softball game at Gates Brown Field at Crestline.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Already clinging to a four-run lead, the Riverdale softball team scored 13 runs in the third inning to cruise to a 17-0 victory over Pandora-Gilboa in the Division IV sectional semifinal on Monday at Riverdale.

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 12-1 victory against Wynford in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Monday at Wynford. Jason Holly (5-0) fired a one-hitter and struck out 13 while issuing two walks. He gave up an unearned run in the fifth inning.

BUCYRUS — Carey errors helped Bucyrus blow open a close game as the Redmen maintained control of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball lead with a 15-5 victory in six innings Monday at Bucyrus. The Blue Devils (16-5, 10-3 N10) erased most of an early 5-0 deficit, getting to within 6-5 when they gave up seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Bucyrus (15-5, 12-1 N10) scored twice more in the sixth inning to end it.

BUCYRUS — For six innings, Bucyrus’ Trevor Ley and Carey’s Reece Mullholand matched zeros on the scoreboard. Finally, Bucyrus broke through against Mullholand with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 1-0 walk-off victory Monday in Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball play.

SYCAMORE — Ridgedale scored three unearned runs on three errors in the third inning, and that was all pitcher Sam Leach needed as Ridgedale knocked off Mohawk 3-1 in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Monday at Mohawk.

ADA — Upper Sandusky suffered a 4-1 loss to Ada on Monday at Ohio Northern University but got the experience it hoped for before Thursday’s sectional boys tennis tournament. “Ada has a really talented team,” Upper Sandusky coach Aaron Frazee said.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — With the game tied at 6 after seven innings, the Van Buren baseball team scored five runs in the top of the eighth to pull away for an 11-6 victory over Riverdale in a Blanchard Valley Conference baseball game on Monday at Riverdale.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk scored eight times in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past Van Buren 13-8 and take a sweep after winning the opener 5-3 in a baseball double header Saturday at Mohawk. The Warriors (14-3) scored to quickly erase a 1-0 deficit in the first game with three runs in the bottom of the first. In the second game, Mohawk trailed 8-5 before breaking out with the huge inning.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk rallied from deficits in both games to sweep a double header with Van Buren 6-5 and 7-5 in nonconference softball action Saturday in Sycamore.
