Rams’ Taylor advances to regionals in 400 dash

Pushing herself

OAK HARBOR — Chloe Taylor advanced to regionals in the 400 dash to lead Upper Sandusky’s track and field team in the conclusion of Division II track and field competition Friday at Oak Harbor. With the top four finishers in each event earned a regional spot, Taylor was fourth in the 400 dash in 1:01.72 and was the Rams’ only athlete to extend their season in a challenging district.

New Riegel starts fast in win over Carey

FINDLAY — With New Riegel already leading 2-0 and nobody out, Jordan Hohman’s three-run home run was too big an early blow for Carey to take. The Blue Jackets demoralized the Blue Devils early and ran away with an 11-1 victory in six innings in the Division IV district softball final Friday evening at the Findlay Marathon Diamonds.

Warriors take advantage of walks to defeat Tigers

ATTICA — Mohawk swept the season series with Seneca East and locked up tie for third place in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball standings with a 6-2 victory Friday at Seneca East. With the win, the Warriors (16-6, 10-6 N10) tied the Tigers (14-10, 10-6) and Ridgedale (17-6, 10-6) for third place in the league, a game behind Colonel Crawford (19-7, 11-5 N10). Upper Sandusky (19-4, 14-2 N10) ran way with the league title.

Falcons top Skins this time

ARCADIA — One day after losing a Division IV sectional final baseball game to Arcadia, Riverdale got a small amount of revenge with an 11-1 victory in five innings Friday at Arcadia. The Falcons (8-11, 4-6 Blanchard Valley Conference) blew open a close game with nine runs in the fourth inning after they had scored twice in the second. The Redskins scored their only run in the fifth.

Boys soccer camp June 17-20

The Upper Sandusky Rams boys soccer camp is June 17-20. Camp for students entering first through fourth grades is slated for 9-10:30 a.m., while camp for students entering fifth through eighth grades is set for 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Upper Sandusky did not take long to show it was set on winning its fourth Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball title in five years. The Rams jumped on Wynford for seven runs in the first inning Thursday on the way to a 10-0 victory in five innings to lock up what will be at least a share of the league title.

Arcadia rallies past Riverdale in 7th inning

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Like so many times this season, the Riverdale baseball team had a shot to win a close game late, but it could not do it. Arcadia took advantage of an error in the seventh inning and scored three times to rally past the Falcons for a 6-4 victory in a Division IV sectional final baseball game Thursday at Riverdale.

Widmer throws no-hitter in 10-0 Mohawk win

SYCAMORE — Mohawk starting pitcher Cole Widmer noticed that Mansfield St. Peter’s hitters weren’t hitting his curveball, so he pounded the zone with his curveball and mixed in a fastball, often throwing it inside, where it was most likely to be called.
