Brett and Brock Montgomery both came out on top in their divisions in the season-opening Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament Tuesday at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. Brett Montgomery shot a 72, including an even-par 36 on each of his nine-hole rounds. He tallied six birdies on the day, including twice each on Nos. 5 and 7.

Three of five area schools are moving up a division in football this coming fall. Upper Sandusky is back up to Division IV, Wynford jumps up to Division V, and Riverdale takes a step up to Division VI. Carey remains in VI and Mohawk in VII.

FOSTORIA — The annual Fostoria Athletic Boosters East-West All-Star Football game is 7 p.m. June 15 at Memorial Stadium. Tickets are $8 and may be purchased from players or at the gate.

The majority of the Crawford/Wyandot County All-Star team participating in District 9 All-Star baseball action is made up of local players at 7 p.m. June 20. Seniors expected to participate include Upper Sandusky’s Jason Holly, Brenyn Marquart and Parker Frombaugh, Carey’s Jordan Dasher and Dylan Grothaus, Mohawk’s Cole Widmer and Tanner Osborn, and Wynford’s Noah Smith.

Upper Sandusky and Carey each had three players and Mohawk two players named to the All-Northwest District softball teams.

After a season like no other in the history of Upper Sandusky baseball, a pair of Rams received honors no other Ram has ever received. Upper Sandusky’s Jason Holly and Brenyn Marquart were named the school’s first baseball All-Ohioans, with Holly selected to the first team and Marquart to the second team.

COLUMBUS — The third time is often considered the charm. And for Carey’s Addystin Lykins, her third trip to the state track and field meet was her most successful to date.

MARION — The Marion Senior Softball Association will be holding its annual 55 and over Popcorn Tournament on Sept. 14. This tournament will be a one-day guaranteed three-game tournament with playoff games to determine first and second places. Games will be played on two fields, Garfield and Kennedy Parks, only 1 mile apart.
