Jake Diebler returns to Ohio State as basketball assistant

Rising through the ranks

COLUMBUS — As soon as 2005 Upper Sandusky High School graduate Jake Diebler learned an assistant men’s basketball coaching position at Ohio State University was going to come open, he expressed interest. After Mike Schrage left to become the head men’s basketball coach at Elon University, Diebler reached out to Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann, whom he had become acquainted with over the last two years.

Children invited to free Mighty Ram Camp

Children in kindergarten through eighth grade and their parents are invited to Mighty Ram Camp on July 22, 24 and 26. The nutrition and fitness program is 6-7:30 p.m. at the Upper Sandusky High School football practice field, behind the baseball diamond, and is open to students from any school district.

Brake wins playoff at HOJGA tourney

MARYSVILLE — Fairbanks’ Travis Brake won a playoff over teammate Justin Brackenridge to win the 16-18 division in the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament Tuesday at Blue Creek Golf Course in Marysville. Both players shot 75s, with Brake winning the playoff on the second hole.

Change is good at Special Olympics

COLUMBUS — Although a number of athletes switched events this past weekend in the Special Olympics State Summer Games, Wyandot County still found its typical high level of success. The Indians racked up medals in 28 events, with 11 golds among them, in the annual event held in the Columbus area.
