Riverdale’s Alec Loveridge reads to students at Riverdale Elementary School this week. The Falcons baseball team is reading to students in kindergarten through second grade during the season.

The Memorial Day 5K Fun Run/Walk is scheduled for May 20 to benefit the Upper Sandusky Middle School eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. Registration begins at 3 p.m. and the race at 4 p.m. at Stepping Stones Park.

Due to the weather, Mohawk’s baseball and softball games against Lakota were canceled Thursday. In addition, Riverdale’s home varsity softball game against Kenton was canceled.

The Northern 10 Athletic Conference is charging admission to all track and field meets this season. Admission for high school meets is $6 for adults and $5 for students.

CAREY — Two days before, Carey was unable to dig out of an early hole. On Wednesday, Dani Berardinelli-Clark, Sydney Ferguson and the Blue Devils had the answer to rally past Upper Sandusky. Berardinelli-Clark’s two-out home run tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, and Ferguson’s hit three batters later gave Carey a 7-6 victory against its county rival.

CAREY — Upper Sandusky’s bats finally came alive. The Rams had the final say in a back-and-forth, 11-9 win over Carey on Wednesday, scoring the go-ahead runs in the top of the seventh inning. Jason Holly struck out two in the home half to preserve the win. The OH-199 rivals split victories on the road in their early-season series.

MORRAL — Wyatt Smith allowed just one run on two hits for Wynford in a complete-game, 3-1 victory over Ridgedale on Wednesday. He walked six and struck out 13.

NORTH ROBINSON — Mohawk scored eight combined runs in the fifth and sixth innings to defeat Colonel Crawford, 9-7, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Wednesday. Down 4-1 after the Eagles (3-3, 1-2 N10) scored four times in the fourth inning, the Warriors (4-1, 3-1 N10) scored five times in the fifth to go up 6-4.

MILAN — Edison edged Upper Sandusky, 3-2, in a boys tennis match Wednesday. The Chargers’ Bryan Johnston won the deciding match at No. 2 singles, rallying past Alex Engle, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, in the No. 2 singles match.
