4 from Upper, Wynford to play in game

Pack finishes as state runner-up in discus

COLUMBUS — Upper Sandusky’s Shane Pack didn’t set a new school record for distance in the discus, but he did place higher in the event than he did last season. Pack set the school mark with a throw of 161-6 and finished seventh in the discus at a loaded state meet as a junior.

Oler 7th in 800 run

COLUMBUS — When the girls mile started on Saturday morning at the state track and field meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, Destini Oler was sitting in the shade. The Mohawk junior saved her energy for the 800 run, her better of two individual distance races for which she qualified, and ended up turning in her best race.

In just 7th 400th of year, Woods places 6th

COLUMBUS — Carey’s Gavin Woods said Friday after qualifying for finals in the 400 dash at the state track and field meet that his only goal was to make the podium. He did that and more Saturday, running his lap in another personal-record time of 50.2 seconds.

Miller gets 1st-team honors

Riverdale’s Trey Miller earned first-team honors on the All-Blanchard Valley Conference baseball team released recently. The Falcons’ Aidan Loveridge was a second-team selection, and Wayne Frey and Evan McKee earned honorable mention.
