SHELBY — Destini Oler won the 800 run and was first in two relays and second in another to lead Mohawk to a seventh-place finish Saturday in the Shelby Invitational. Ontario edged Shelby for first, 98-94. Mohawk scored 45 points, and Wynford was 15th with nine points.

BASCOM — Upper Sandusky’s junior varsity baseball team defeated Hopewell-Loudon, 15-5, on Saturday.

OAK HARBOR — Upper Sandusky’s boys tennis team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating Oak Harbor, 5-0, and Bellevue, 3-2. The 5-0 win against the Rockets was part of the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association team tournament and advances the Rams to play against Norwalk in the next round April 25.

VAN BUREN — Led by its relays, the Carey girls track and field team came up just short of winning the Doug Mowery Invitational on Friday night at Van Buren. Arlington edged Carey, 140-138, for first place, with Van Buren right behind with 136 points.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — When Riverdale basketball standout Sydney Holderman was looking at places to play collegiately, she knew what she was looking for from an athletic standpoint. But even more important to the Falcons senior point guard were the things she was looking for from an academic standpoint.

COLUMBUS — The OHSAA's competitive balance formula has been applied for the first time, but with minimal effect on divisions, especially for local schools. The OHSAA announced divisions for fall sports Thursday and applied its new formula that adds a count to schools' base enrollments for players who come from outside of the school's geographical district or area.

MORRAL — Wynford softball earned its first win of the season Wednesday with a 10-7 weather-shortened victory at Ridgedale. A Rockets player suffered a severe concussion in the seventh inning, and the game was called during the delay because of lightning.

CAREY — Upper Sandusky’s boys and girls came in first in a five-team junior high track and field meet Monday at Carey. The Rams girls scored 133 points, with Colonel Crawford edging Carey, 74-59, for second.
