Panthers rally for win

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale Lady Falcons saw a 16-point third quarter lead disappear as McComb held them to just four points in the fourth, taking the 59-56 Blanchard Valley Conference win over the host Falcons on Thursday night. According to Riverdale coach Maryann Holderman, the key difference in the game came from the free throw line, where her team was just 2 of 2 on the night but surrendered 15 second-half points alone and 18 in the game.

Wynford tops Upper in girls junior high

Kaycee Smith scored 12 points to lead Wynford to a 38-23 victory against Upper Sandusky in an eighth grade girls basketball game Thursday. Lyndie Williams scored 10 points for the Royals, and Felicity Etzinger scored eight points. Mia Leuthold and Alex Mills had six points each. Allison Scott added two points.

Upper wins big over Highland, Bexley to reach regional semis

Though none of them were on the high school team at the time, many of Upper Sandusky’s wrestlers remember — and many went to watch — when the Rams went to the state dual tournament in 2013. Now, the Rams are a step closer to making that a reality of their own after winning home regional quarterfinal matches, 59-9 against Highland and 48-18 against Bexley on Wednesday evening.

The first Lady Rams alumni basketball game will played at 2 p.m. Sunday at Upper Sandusky High School. There are currently 50 alumnae on the rosters, along with former coaches Andra Bell and Tom Bell. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students.
