WSHOF golf outing to be held Aug. 19

CAREY — The sixth annual Wyandot Sports Hall of Fame golf outing is 8:30 a.m. Aug. 19 at Bob’s Countryside Golf Course, 4204 Ohio 199, Carey. The cost for the four-person scramble is $40 per person, which includes 18 holes with a cart and a sack lunch.

Bookie’s picks up wins in 2 tourney games

CAREY — Upper Sandusky Bookie’s Lawn Service scored five runs in the first inning on its way to an 8-3 victory Monday against McCutchenville in the second round of the SenSanWyan C League girls fastpitch softball tournament at Waterworks Park in Carey.

Wyandot County earns 8 gold medals during Special Olympics

COLUMBUS — Wyandot County finished the weekend with eight gold medals, but a silver medal finish in unified volleyball was one of the highlights during the Special Olympics Summer Games in Columbus. The Indians took part in unified events for the first time, and the volleyball team featured four unified athletes in addition to four Special Olympians.

Physical fundraiser

Upper Sandusky High School Athletic Director Brad Ehrman reported Wyandot Memorial Hospital’s sports physicals for high school and middle school athletes raised $1,005 to help purchase medical supplies for district teams.

Beaschler 5th in Marysville

MARYSVILLE — Wynford’s Jacob Beaschler was fifth, and Upper Sandusky’s Owen Knapp took seventh Wednesday in the 13-15 division in the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament at Marysville Golf Course.

Soccer teams gather huge donation for Ukraine trip

What may seem of little value here will mean a lot to children in Ukraine. When Wyandot County residents Charlotte Leeth and Lana and George Sakash visit the poor Eastern European nation in September, they will be able to provide the most requested items — soccer equipment — and in large measure thanks to area donations spearheaded by the Upper Sandusky boys and girls soccer teams.
