Sycamore raises sewer rates

SYCAMORE — Sycamore Village Council agreed to raise sewer rates at its regular meeting Tuesday evening. The Sycamore Utilities Committee reported the village needed to make adjustments to sludge and needed to look at rates for the sewer to keep the sewer budget healthy.

Upper students, community members learn the power of creating a chain reaction of kindness

Rachel Scott, the first victim of the April 20, 1999, Columbine school shooting that left 12 students and one teacher dead, lived her life with the intention of being a positive light and creating a chain reaction of kindness, confident in the knowledge that she would impact the world positively. Now 20 years later, her story continues to have an impact, across the United States and the world, and is having an impact on the students of Upper Sandusky.

An officer performed a K-9 assist with the Ohio State Highway Patrol on U.S. 23 northbound near CH 121 the evening of Sept. 22. Sherry M. Rodgers, Findlay, was arrested for theft at Walmart the evening of Sept. 22. An accomplice, James Riggs, Columbus, was charged with complicit to theft.

FSA county committee voting to begin Nov 4

Voting will open for the USDA’s Farm Service Agency’s Wyandot County Committee on Nov. 4. It is important that every eligible producer participate in these elections because FSA county committees are a link between the agricultural community and the USDA. The 2019 election in Wyandot County will be conducted for the representative for Local Administrative Area No. 3 consisting of Jackson, Mifflin, Pitt, Antrim and Marseilles townships.

Sycamore native serving on Farm Bureau committee

COLUMBUS — Rose Hartschuh of Sycamore is serving on the 2019 Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Policy Development Committee. The committee collects and organizes public policy recommendations from county farm bureaus and presents the final policy suggestions to be voted on by Ohio farm bureau delegates during the state annual meeting in December.

Pedestrian taken by LifeFlight with serious injuries after 3-vehicle collision Monday

Crash

Early sheriff’s reports indicate a Forest man was sent via LifeFlight to St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, with serious injuries, after a crash involving three vehicles Monday evening on CH 330 near CH 108. Isaiah Abraszek was reportedly eastbound on CH 330 when he stopped his vehicle, a 2004 black Audi, on the side of the road after having motor trouble.

EMS T-shirt sale aims to help breast cancer patients

For the past five years, Wyandot County EMS has held a special T-shirt sale at the end of the summer, with all profits used to support patients fighting breast cancer at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. Wyandot County EMS/EMA Coordinator Dale Risley said to ensure funds raised stayed local, the profits from the annual sale were used to buy $50 gas cards, which were donated to WMH oncology services.
