The Wyandot County commissioners met Thursday to discuss the upcoming start of the summer youth work program. Jason Fagan, director of the Wyandot County Department of Job and Family Services, and Laura Gier, fiscal supervisor for Wyandot County JFS, were in attendance and presented the expenses for foster care maintenance from the children services fund for the month of April.

TYMOCHTEE TOWNSHIP — No one was injured when a Sycamore ambulance crashed into a deer that ran into the roadway while en route to an emergency call early Wednesday morning. The vehicle driven by local first responder Jason A. Romanko, of Sycamore, struck a deer while traveling northbound on CH 35 south of TH 11 in Tymochtee Township at 6:05 a.m., according to a report received Friday by the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office.

The Upper Sandusky Service Committee will meet in special session at 8:15 a.m. Monday to discuss a personnel matter. The property maintenance committee will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

CAREY — For the second year in a row, a Wyandot County Catholic school teacher has won the Golden Apple award from the Diocese of Toledo. Greg Boyle was one of seven elementary teachers to receive the award along with two secondary teachers Thursday night at Hilton Garden Inn, Perrysburg.

BUCYRUS — Superintendent Fred Fox and the Wynford Local School District have gone bargain hunting. Fox and other administrators recently visited Carey to take a look at some of the items the school is getting rid of before moving into a new building for classes this fall, Fox said at Thursday night’s school board meeting.

TIFFIN — The city editor of The Daily Chief-Union is the 2016 countywide award winner for community service from the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties.

SYCAMORE — Residents from Wyandot, Seneca and Crawford counties had an opportunity to view renovations at the Mohawk Historical Society’s museum in downtown Sycamore on Thursday, the regular meeting day of the group.

CAREY — Carey High School hosted its annual ceremony of excellence Monday, with Sara Craig winning seven scholarships and classmates Allison Keller and Sarah Taylor each taking home six scholarships.

Local law enforcement agencies will participate in a high-visibility seatbelt enforcement campaign from Monday through June 5.

FOREST — Promoting economic growth and improving Forest are two goals of the Forest Community Improvement Corporation. During the quarterly meeting of the village government and business leaders Tuesday, the CIC announced a number of good things are going on in Forest.
