ADA — The Lima Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the Fourth of July with a “Patriotic Pops” concert on the campus of Ohio Northern University at 7 p.m. July 2. The event is free and open to the public.

Jim Cruise (back), the “Spoon Man,” gets lots of laughs from the audience Tuesday as he plays a set of spoons to a song off the head of Hawk Washburn. Cruise’s performance, held at the Gormley Park shelter house in Forest, was part of the Forest-Jackson Public Library’s summer reading program.

About 15 area youth have spent the past three mornings learning about Wyandot Indian history at the annual junior historians day camp sponsored by the Wyandot County Historical Society.

Upper Sandusky will fog mosquitoes on Thursday nights during the summer months if weather conditions permit it. Fogging will begin at 11 p.m. and will end at 6 a.m. Fridays, beginning tonight.

Area firefighters entered a house fire Tuesday night in an attempt to rescue two people believed to be inside the residence, but found no one was inside before extinguishing the blaze. The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office reported the fire at 4:23 p.m. Tuesday at 759 S. Hazel St.

TIFFIN — The North Central Electric Cooperative general manager took aim at President Obama’s Clean Power Plan at its annual meeting June 14 at the Seneca County Fairgrounds. General manager Markus Bryant said the cooperative’s mission is to provide reliable electric service, a superior customer experience and innovative energy solutions.
