2 arrested for stealing in separate incidents

Shoplifting was reported at various Upper Sandusky stores over the past weekend. An Upper Sandusky police officer responded to a report of a 15-year-old girl attempting to steal two alcoholic beverages from Circle K in the 300 block of South Sandusky Avenue on Friday evening.

New common pleas cases filed

Certificate of judgment: Barclay’s Bank Delaware, Wilmington, Delaware, judgment creditor, vs. Gary E. Holdcraft, 1049 N. Warpole St., Lot 41, Upper Sandusky, judgment debtor. Criminal: State of Ohio vs. Allen M. Ochier, 101 1/2 S. Main St., Nevada, trafficking in drugs (trafficking in marijuana) and trafficking in drugs (aggravated trafficking in drugs).

Longtime DC-U staffer resigns

Having written for The Daily Chief-Union for more than 12 years, City Editor Alissa Paolella’s final day with the newspaper was Friday night. A 2005 graduate of Mohawk High School, Paolella first was published in The DC-U in October 2004 while still a student.

Nevada fire

Multiple Wyandot County first responder squads came on scene to a fire in the 300 block of Goodbread Street in Nevada on Friday afternoon. Wyandot East Fire District, Sycamore Fire and Rescue, the Upper Sandusky and Pitt Township fire departments, the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office and Wyandot County Emergency Medical Services all responded to the house fire.

Sisters training sheds light on horrors of human trafficking

TIFFIN — If it takes a village to raise a child, it will take the whole world coming together to stop what local, state and federal agencies refer to as modern-day slavery — the horrors of human trafficking. That was the message of the first of eight training sessions at St. Francis Home on Wednesday night, when a small number of local residents learned about human trafficking for labor and sexual coercion.
