Each county Soil and Water Conservation District in Ohio is governed by a board of five local supervisors. One supervisor will be elected at the Wyandot Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual banquet on Aug. 16 and will serve for three years beginning in January 2019.

Most of the hard work has been completed. Now it’s time to actually fund the Wyandot County Infirmary Cemetery Memorial. The project began thanks in part to concerned citizens.

Eric Stansberry, owner of Jasper Repair and Chuck Pahl of Pahl’s Premium Construction donated labor and materials to help hang flower baskets of Jeff Trautwein’s wave petunias at the Wyandot County Courthouse entrance Friday night and flowers were planted on both sides of the courthouse as part of the continuing beautification project started in 2017 by Linda DeBolt and Janice Woods.

Upper Sandusky Exempted Village Schools has created a new way to honor distinguished alumni. The district created the Robert P. Lee award and gave the first honor to its namesake, who died Oct. 13.

Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn unveiled a planned expansion by Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home at Monday’s service committee meeting. The expansion would bring the funeral home flush with a sidewalk and it was likely at least one parking space will be lost.

McCUTCHENVILLE — Three people were injured in a house fire along Ohio 53 on the north side of McCutchenville Sunday morning. Chief Rodney Clinger of Sycamore Fire and Rescue said all three occupants of the home, Brandon and Christina Tong, and their son, were able to evacuate the building before emergency services arrived.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale High School’s graduation ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in the school gymnasium. The class valedictorian is Gabrielle Rodriguez, a daughter of Eric and Josette Rodriguez.

The Upper Sandusky FFA visited residents at Fairhaven Community on Thursday, bringing a wide assortment of animals for residents to pet including puppies, kittens, rabbits, goats and even a donkey.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk High School’s graduation is set for 2 p.m. Sunday in the high school gymnasium where 75 students are expected to receive their diplomas. This year’s valedictorian is Makayla Burks, while the salutatorian is Parker Brown.
