Representatives from the Wyandot County Safe Communities Coalition met Thursday at the new EMS/EMA building in Upper Sandusky to announce the winners of a multi-media video contest for local high schoolers on seat belt usage. The event highlighted the kickoff of the 2018 “Click it or Ticket” campaign, which begins May 21 and lasts two weeks. Law enforcement officers will keep an extra eye out for seat belt usage over this period.

BUCYRUS — The administration of Wynford High School is prepared to award 79 students their diplomas at a graduation ceremony at 8 p.m. Saturday at the football field. The 2018 class is led by co-valedictorians Cole Heinlen and Victoria Hoerig.

Angeline School and Industries Superintendent Todd Dilley will be in charge for another five years. Following an executive session Thursday, the Wyandot County Board of Developmental Disabilities voted to approve re-employing Dilley for a five-year term effective July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2023.

Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn read a proclamation Wednesday congratulating Fairhaven on its recent five-star rating and declaring it National Skilled Nursing Care Week.

Howard Cole provided musical entertainment outside at Fairhaven Wednesday during the resident’s picnic. Cole sang a wide range of songs from Elvis Presley to Hank Williams and even some Johnny Cash.

Upper Sandusky High School’s marketing education/DECA program recently hosted its annual awards presentation/employer appreciation banquet at the Elks Club in Upper Sandusky to honor its 2017-18 marketing work experience program employers.

Neumeister’s Candy Shoppe in Upper Sandusky may have some new owners, but the old recipes are sticking around despite plenty of new menu options. Debbie and Tim Frey purchased Neumeister’s this past August and they finally had some free time to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Wyandot Chamber of Commerce last Wednesday.

The Upper Sandusky High School chess club hosted a community chess event at Senior Connection on Tuesday. The chess club will host its next event from 4-6 May 23 at the Upper Sandusky Community Library and players from beginner, intermediate and expert skill levels are invited.

The What’s Cookin’ recipe club met Monday at the Upper Sandusky Community Library for a post-Mother’s Day tea party. Attendees were asked to bring food they would normally make for a tea party.
