The second year of the South Sandusky Block Rally, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, will be more than twice the size of last year’s event. The number of participating businesses has increased from 11 last year to 23 this year and it will encompass all of South Sandusky Street downtown, event organizers Monica Bess and Jill Logsdon said.

KIRBY — The annual Transfiguration of the Lord St. Mary’s/Kirby Festival will take place from 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday and 2-10 p.m. Sunday in Kirby. Saturday’s theme is “Adult Night Out.” The Kirby off-road 5K will begin at 9 a.m., taking runners into the country through trails in the woods of a parishioner and back, organizer Curt Frey said. SYCAMORE — It was announced at Tuesday’s Sycamore Village Council meeting that the Sycamore community pool will close for the season Aug. 12.

AEP Transmission, an affiliate of AEP Ohio, recently broke ground on a new service center in Wyandot County. The building, located at 330 Tarhe Trail, will encompass about 37,000 square feet and will replace an existing company building located 3 miles away.

The Wyandot Safety Council held a special event on Thursday to discuss Ohio’s upcoming medical marijuana law Ohio House Bill 523 which is expected to be implemented in the fall.

The Wyandot Chamber of Commerce is hosting a summer Photoshop workshop in partnership with Marion Technical College. The Photoshop editing classes are 5:30-8 p.m. July 31, Aug. 7 and Aug. 14 at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. The classes cost $95 for chamber members and $120 for non-chamber members.
